The hydropneumatic accumulator is a device that makes possible, in the hydraulic circuits, a considerable accumulation of energy in small spaces.

A) An elastic separator (bladder) is mounted in a container (accumulator body).
B) An inert gas (nitrogen) is introduced into the PO pressure bladder from a special valve. The bladder expands occupying the entire internal volume of the VO accumulator body.
C) When the pressure P1 in the circuit exceeds the pre-charge pressure PO, the liquid valve opens and the bladder compresses with a reduction in volume to V1.
D) By increasing the pressure of the liquid at P2, there is a reduction in the volume of the gas at V2 with an increase in its pressure in order to balance the pressure of the liquid.
